No more invoices for members' hunting
“We wanted to give our members a modern solution. Now they book and pay on their phones, and we see everything in one place.”
Tore Skogen, chair of Vindafjord Jakt og Fiskelag
Why the association chose Hunta
Vindafjord Jakt og Fiskelag is based in Vindafjord in Rogaland and has 321 members. It offers red deer and roe deer hunting to its members, and like many associations it used to collect payment for the hunting by invoice. The harvest fee (fellingsavgift) was invoiced afterwards, once the animal was taken.
“Invoicing worked, but it meant a lot of manual work for those of us who run the association. We wanted something simpler for the members and more modern,” says Tore Skogen, the association’s chair.
The association had clear requirements: every listing had to be private and visible to members only, members had to book and pay themselves, and full members and associate members had to have separate prices.
Hunta is based in Ryfylke, close to Vindafjord. “It’s great that the solution is run and developed here in Rogaland,” says Skogen.
How it works
The association now lists its hunting in Hunta, and members book and pay there.
All listings are private, so only members can see them. The association wanted separate prices for full members and associate members, and Hunta built that. It also wanted to import member lists from Excel, and Hunta built an import feature for it. The members came straight in without anyone typing them in again, and every member gets the right price automatically.
The harvest fee goes through Hunta as well. The hunter enters the carcass weight in the harvest report, Hunta calculates the fee, and the hunter pays it when the report is submitted. The association no longer sends invoices, neither for the hunting nor after the harvest.
The association sets its own prices, including the price per kilo for the harvest fee. Hunta adds a 10 percent platform fee, and the member sees the price with the fee and pays it. That’s all.
After the hunt, hunters submit a harvest report in Hunta. Anyone who forgets gets reminders by email and in the app.
One overview for the board
The association sees everything in one overview: who is hunting, what has been paid and whether the report is in.
“Now we can see right away who has booked and paid. It makes the board’s job much easier,” says Skogen.
The association also uses Hunta to organise joint hunts, such as an introductory hunt for new hunters, and has listed hunting days for its hunting teams. Everything ends up in the same overview, whether the hunt costs money or not.
The right hunting fee for red deer and roe deer
The association offers both red deer and roe deer hunting, and the two do not require the same hunting fee (jegeravgift). Red deer hunting requires the big game fee. For roe deer, the small game fee is enough.
Hunta now does that check. Hunta knows which hunt the member is booking and asks the Register of Hunters in Brønnøysund whether the right fee has been paid. The member enters their hunter number and date of birth once. If the member has only paid the small game fee and books red deer hunting, they are told right away, with a link to pay and a reminder before the hunt.
In the bookings, the board sees a badge next to each member, such as «Fee paid · big game». Nobody has to show a receipt.
So far
The association joined Hunta before the autumn. Since then, members have bought red deer and roe deer hunting there and paid straight away. For the hunts that have taken place, the harvest reports are in.
“It has worked really well for the members. We’ve had very little trouble with the bookings,” says Skogen.
Several members also use the Hunta app on their phones. That is where they find the hunting they have bought and the ground on the map, and the harvest report reminder comes straight to their phone.
“Our volunteer time should go to the hunting and the members, not to invoices. Now both the payments and the reports come in on their own.”
