Season: Sep 10 – Feb 28/29
Mountain hare is among the huntable species in Trøndelag. Hare hunting with a running hound is one of Norway's finest hunting traditions. The dog picks up the hare's scent and drives it in a large circle, while the hunter positions themselves along known travel routes and waits for the hare to come back.
Bestanden svinger i sykluser.
Variert.
2,5–5 kg
Trøndelag has Norway's most productive hunting terrain in Namdal and the Snåsa area. Broad valleys with spruce forest provide good conditions for moose and forest grouse. The mountain areas in the east border Sweden and offer ptarmigan hunting. The Trondheim Fjord gives mild winters in the lowlands, while the inland is more continental.
