La chasse en Vestland

Vestland is Norway's number one red deer county. No other county has such a dense red deer population, and hunting is part of everyday life in the villages along the fjords. In municipalities like Kvam, Voss, and Sogndal, hundreds of red deer are harvested each autumn, and there are real opportunities to lease terrain.

The terrain is steep. It is not unusual to hunt on 40-degree slopes with the fjord 500 meters below you. Good fitness and mountain-savvy legs are an advantage, but the reward is hunting trips with views and nature experiences you rarely find elsewhere.

For wild reindeer enthusiasts, Hardangervidda covers parts of Vestland, with hunting from Eidfjord and Ulvik. Small game hunting in the mountains offers ptarmigan in varying numbers, and along the coast there is greylag goose hunting in autumn.
